The number of languages on Earth is falling. But the number of words is still rising.
To investigate this evolution, I suggest a linguistic experiment: a minimal dictionary.
If you should choose one and only one word,
for a dictionary with only 100 words,
which one would you choose..?
Each person may select one word. But it can be of any kind.
Words may be changed while the book is still open.
The book closes when 100 words are chosen.
You need not justify your choise
but comments are welcome.
Select a word...
Mads Dam, April 2011
. Bjarne Lodahl: Good old thirties filosophy...
. Ovidiu Bufnila: It is a good provocation for me...
. Lucian-Dragos Bogdan
. Henrik Schmidt.
. Stig W. Jørgensen
. Klaus Æ. Mogensen
. Tinne Stubbe Østergaard: Open your Mind: You are Buddha too.
. Tommy Sørensen: Music makes bad things go by.
. Mikala B. Hansen
. Mads Dam: A rare but benevolent word that I stumbled upon one day. Now it's your turn...
. Mircea Pricajan: Interesting experiment. I'm all curious what would be the outcome of it. Now, let's see! What word we cannot do without? I would say it is: SEX. Going back to our rudimentary selves that word would describe us better. I'm not a Freudian in nature, but some of the things he stated prove themeselves to be true even after almost a century. So, why not? SEX is my answer. No (other) comment!
. Gareth Thompson: I imagine there will be a lot around, what with only 100 words. Either way, it's an important one.
. Jens Mikkelsen
. Klaus Johansen
. Willum P. Trellund
. Tue Sørensen: Wonder is the emotional fuel for all intellectual achivement.
. Olav M. J. Christiansen: No dictionary without that word.
